There is no Sunday column this week.
Contrary to popular belief, I am not supermom. I have a few friends who insist on calling me that (K, S, C and A—you know who you are!) and I just laugh because most days I feel like one of the most disorganized, incompetent, bumbling fools on the planet.
Just ask my kids. (On second thought, don’t do that.)
Anyway, since my gorgeous little night owl was born eight weeks ago, I have seriously struggled to produce a readable article every week. My writing time is SO slim these days. Jonah’s a good baby, but loves to be held 24/7, much more than my other two did at this age.
I’m really OK with that. Infancy passes so quickly, and I am truly enjoying taking care of a baby again. So what if he needs more physical time with his mama than his brothers did? Soon enough he will be crawling and exploring and will want anything but being held. So I’m going with the flow and following his cues and we’re really doing great.
But it also means that I have little time on any given day to do tasks that require two hands (such as typing), and dividing myself to accomplish it all has been a challenge.
So, for at least the rest of the year, I’m only writing a column every other week. I realize “the rest of the year” is really just a few weeks, and I’m not sure what will happen in January. I hope to be back to my weekly schedule but we’ll see how things play out.
And now it’s time to go feed Jonah McFussypants and get all of us in the bed.
